Naracoorte Art Gallery
The Naracoorte Regional Cultural Centre is being established at 91 Ormerod Street,in the heart of Naracoorte. This historic two-storey Georgian building is both the former home of a much loved early medical practitioner, Dr Pat Pavy, and the former municipal offices of the Corporation of Naracoorte.
The District Council of Naracoorte owns the building and had planned to sell it. The council then agreed to make the building available to a newly established Naracoorte Regional Cultural Centre Trust. However the Trust has the obligation and responsibility to maintain this wonderful asset.
The Trust's principal tennant will be the Naracoorte Art Gallery, which will display its magnificent Community Art Collection and other exhibitions, and other tennants are likely to be in the areas of local heritage, hospitality, wine and tourism.
The Art Gallery of Naracoorte is the first regional public art gallery in South Australia.
The Gallery holds a significant permanent collection of Australian art including the work of John Goodchild and Jaqueline Hicks.
Each year the Gallery hosts more than a dozen exhibitions, including those of local artists and visiting collections.
